Daniel Takacs for The Piteous Life and Tragical Death of Steve the Intern
Daniel A. Takacs is an award-winning playwright and director from Oberlin, Ohio. His original plays have been developed or produced by The Riant Theatre, The Black Experimental Theatre, Cleveland Public Theatre, and Boston Playwright’s Theatre. He has taught and directed theatre in Cleveland, Chicago, Denver, and in Boston, where he received his MFA in Theatre Education from Boston University, with a focus on playwriting and directing. Favorite productions he has directed include “The Millennials” (CPT), “The 39 Steps” (Chagrin Valley Little Theatre), and “The Adventurous Adventuress” (Dobama). Dan lives with his wife, Linda, his peanut Greta, and the twins, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

“Summary (Spoilers):
Steve the Intern is envious of the power and prestige of Duncan, president of Duncan’s Buckets, and vows to take his throne. As Steve manipulates his way to the top, he falls in love, sets off a union strike, and, finally, murders Duncan. Soon, the forces he has unleashed catch up to him, and Steve is unable to kill the one person in the way of him from seizing power: his love, Eliza: Steve and Eliza embrace as they die together in their love, and Duncan’s Buckets burns around them.”
